If you or someone you know has an idea for an event to bring people into Charlottesville or Albemarle, you could get some money to help you.
The Charlottesville Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau is holding a Spring 2014 Tourism Sponsorship Program.
The program will match any money you spend on marketing your tourism-related event to up to $7,500.
"These kinds of events are very important to our community. And we encourage those that either have an existing event, have a program that they would like to get some marketing dollars to promote that will, in the end, hopefully inspire people to come and travel the Charlottesville Albemarle area, to please take a close look at this," said Kurt Burkhart, the Charlottesville Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director.
The Bureau encourages events that attract tourists in the off-season months, or mid-November to March and July to mid-August.
The deadline for the grant program is February 8.
Some applicants who already received funding are not eligible to apply. For more information on who may apply, an application, and other questions, visit the 2014 Spring Sponsorships page here.
