LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) - A fraternity at Washington and Lee University has been suspended for three years following a fatal accident in December involving one of its members.

The national headquarters of Sigma Alpha Epsilon announced the recent suspension of the Washington and Lee chapter.

The Roanoke Times reports an SUV carrying 11 Washington and Lee students flipped on Dec. 3, killing a 21-year-old woman and injuring several other students.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon says the driver was a member of the fraternity. State Police charged 21-year-old Nicholas Perry Hansel with driving under the influence.
