Hundreds of water customers in Albemarle County found themselves with nothing coming out of their faucets on Monday morning.

The Albemarle County Service Authority says a water main break led to the problem around 10:30 a.m. Monday. Crews have since located the break and are repairing it.

The break left many people in Ivy without water. The Boar's Head Inn was not affected, and neither were many people in Crozet.

"Water, we take for granted. You turn on the faucet, you expect it to be there, so it really was kind of a surprise," Ivy resident William Fischer said. "But if that's all we have to worry about, how lucky we are."

A representative from the service authority says crews are continuing to work on fixing the break, and water has already been restored to a number of customers.

Those still without water can expect it within the next few hours, the representative said.
