West Main Street Steering Committee Holds Public Meeting

June 10, 2014

The West Main Street Steering Committee held another public meeting on Tuesday.

The committee is spear-heading a project to improve the existing infrastructure of West Main Street. They hope to find ways to make the area more pedestrian and bike friendly, as well as methods for improving traffic and preserve historic buildings.

"The vision of Main Street is to create a modern, beautiful, thoroughfare that links downtown to the university and creates beautiful special places for all people," said Elliot Rhodeside, director of Rhodeside & Harwell/

The committee has accepted proposals for streetscape and street configuration plans. They hope to have a master plan finished later this summer.
