Area students in kindergarten through college from all over central Virginia put their imaginations to good use Saturday for the annual Destination: Imagination competition.
Western Albemarle High School served as the host for the statewide tournament. Those who did well there would advance to the global competition in Tennessee, scheduled for May.
More than 160 teams from all over the state brought their creativity and brain power to the table as they took on different challenges. They've been preparing for the past six months, but some challenges took them by surprise.
You also get to learn how to get along with others which is a pretty key thing. We get judged on that a lot and I guess it helps you throughout life," said Hannah, a seventh-grader at Henley Middle School.
"You learn to just look past people's differences," said Aimee, a sixth-grader at Henley Middle School.
"You can be a lot more creative here than, say, playing baseball. And everyone else here is really creative," said sxith-grade Team Swag member Evan.
The team that won today will travel to Tennessee to compete once again against teams from all around the world.
