Westminster-Canterbury of the Blue Ridge (WCBR) held a groundbreaking ceremony to commence the beginning of construction on a new addition to their community on Wednesday, November 28th. The new addition, called Pantops, is an apartment expansion featuring 36-apartments, a state-of-the-art 16,000 square foot wellness & fitness center, and a 56 seat theater & classroom.
The invite-only ceremony hosted up to 300 people, including future residents for the new apartments, Board Members, existing residents and staff, and members of the project team. The ceremonial shovel turning, led by President and CEO Gary Selmeczi, took place directly on the soil where the new addition will be built.
"Since WCBR opened its doors in 1990, we have expanded, remodeled and enhanced our community at opportune times to meet the growing demands of active adults seeking retirement living," said WCBR President and CEO, Gary Selmeczi. "Our mission is centered on providing the highest level of care and amenities to our residents, and the new Pantops building will continue our history of leadership and excellence."
The final project delivery date is estimated as May 2014.
