This week in our What's Going Around, we're checking in with two doctors in Central Virginia.
D.r Steve Schmitz from Afton Family Medicine said he's seeing an increase in the number of people being treated for eczema. Symptoms include itchy, dry skin that could also include tiny red bumps. Treatment includes moisturizer and sometimes a steroid cream. Also, Dr. Schmitz said to avoid too much soap and water.
D.r William Tompkins at Blue Ridge Internal Medicine said he's treating more people for upper respiratory tract infections. Symptoms include aches, sore throat, cough, and nasal congestion. Treatment involves many over the country medications including acetaminophen and throat lozenges. Also, Dr. Tompkins recommends drinking plenty of fluids. He said to see a Doctor if your symptoms get worse.
