In this week's What's Going Around, we're talking about sinusitis. Dr. Laura Howard of Palmyra Medical Associates says more people are coming down with the virus.

Symptoms include nasal congestion, thick drainage, tooth pain and facial pain or pressure, which could be worse when bending forward. Viral sinusitis usually lasts about seven to ten days.

When it comes to treatment, Dr. Howard recommends nasal saline, Tylenol or ibuprofen and a steroid nasal spray.

Dr. Howard says the best way to prevent sinusitis is by washing your hands regularly and using sanitizers during cold and flu season, especially when exposed to sick people.

Acute sinusitis is almost always caused by a virus and only two out of every 100 people will go on to develop bacterial sinusitis. So, Dr. Howard says you should see your doctor if you're not getting better after seven to ten days.

It's still flu season and Dr. Howard is reminding people that there's still time to get a vaccine to protect against the virus.
