The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for Madison County and surrounding areas.
Fire warnings help to inform citizens and local firefighters that conditions are very dry with high winds.
As we enter the spring burning season, foresters say these warnings alone don't stop fires.
"The firefighters, the emergency responders need to be aware that these conditions are such that if there is a fire, the fire's going to be a little more difficult to put out, harder to suppress," said Associate Director of Resource Protection Fred Turck. "It doesn't mean that we're going to have more fires, because those conditions in themselves don't start fires, people start fires."
Citizens can decrease the chances of starting accidental fires by postponing their burning until the areas are out of these conditions.
