Wintergreen Expanding 4-season Recreation

May 28, 2013

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Wintergreen Resort is expanding its recreational offerings in a move to become a premier four-season destination.

The Nelson County resort recently completed a 6-mile mountain bike trail. Other recent projects include renovation of the aquatic and fitness center, the fitness center and the Devil's Grill.

General manager Hank Thiess tells The Daily Progress that the resort also wants to grow its golf business, and to continue development of its fine dining.

For ski season, the resort has added snowmaking guns and a 5-million gallon water tank.

Wintergreen also is moving toward greater exclusivity.

A new membership structure that goes into effect Dec. 1 will make certain areas and services available only to members and resort guests.
