Wintergreen Resort is planning on making snow for the first time this season this coming weekend.
Officials say temperatures are expected to drop to the pre-teens and that gives them their first chance to turn the brown slopes white with snow.
Last year, Wintergreen installed a new snow making system which will make this year's slopes better than ever.
"We've always had a great system but last fall we invested in doubling our capacity," said Jay Roberts, Vice President of Wintergreen Resort. "We spent the early part of the season trying to figure out how to use it. This year, we've had a winter behind us and we're going to come out of the gates making twice as much snow as we ever have."
Wintergreen is hoping to open the slopes the Saturday after Thanksgiving, which is about two weeks ahead of the original schedule.
