Cooler temperatures are good news for a Nelson County resort.
Wintergreen is now making snow. The resort is trying to come back after a financially difficult Winter 2011 season, which was plagued with warm weather.
New owners have since taken over and made many investments, including a new five million gallon water tank.
Owners say those investments should help pump out snow twice as fast as last year.
"Its all automated," said Director of Mountain Operations, Todd Clarke. "We adjust it based on temperature and humidity. So we're putting out a very consistent product all the time. If you have a temperature increase, humidity increase, we have the ability to adjust for that and essentially put down a very consistent snow."
Wintergreen officials say they hope to open their slopes this coming Thursday, December 20th.
