Women are invited to an upcoming personal safety training class in Charlottesville.

The Women United group is sponsoring the training class, which will include helpful information from Charlottesville police about ways to stay safe when in vulnerable situations.

The class goes beyond the basics of how to fight back, by instead focusing on how to prevent an attack.

“It's not martial arts or karate,” said Sue Friedman with Women United. “It's really about becoming more aware. How should you approach your car at night? How should you approach your home? Or a building that's completely dark when you know you're going to be the first or the only person in that building.”

The class is scheduled for next Tuesday, February 26 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the Omni Hotel.
