Working Out in the Very Cold

Jan. 7, 2014

Schools may have been closed or on a delay, but plenty of people still had to go out to work on Tuesday.

Some working outdoors today because they need the paycheck, while others actually volunteering to be out in the single-digit temperatures.

At the Habitat for Humanity construction site off Avon Street, a dozen people bundled up this morning to work on a home.

The volunteers say they don't have time to let the weather slow them down.

"No matter rain, shine, cold, these houses need to get built," said Matt Houser, a volunteer. "We've got to help these people get homes. We're out here doing and we've got people out here helping us."

Others, like a sign twirler for Liberty Tax, say it's all about the layers and keeping warm.
