RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The Virginia Department of Historic Resources will hold a workshop on cemeteries this fall.
The workshop will be held Oct. 3 and 4 at Menokin Baptist Church in the Richmond County community of Warsaw.
Among the topics of discussion will be the proper care and maintenance of historic cemeteries. Department archaeologists also will discuss symbols found on grave markers and tombstones, along with genealogy, mortuary archaeology, Virginia burial law, and how to document and record a cemetery for the department's database.
The two-day session costs $60. The registration deadline is Sept. 24.
