Wreck Knocks Down Traffic Light, Causes Backup
Shortly before 7pm Thursday, an apparent car wreck knocked over a traffic light on Emmet Street in front of the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville.

Shorty before 7:00 pm Thursday, an apparent car wreck knocked over a traffic light on Emmet Street in front of the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville.
The light's pole lay across Emmet Street causing traffic to backup while police cleared the scene.
There is no word yet on what caused the incident.

As another noted, it happened before 5:30p. I was stuck in traffic as a result of it, and got detoured around it.

It actually occured around 5:20PM... I saw it as I was leaving work around 5:30PM
