Albemarle County Sheriff Chip Harding announced Friday the arrest of a woman featured in a CBS19 story about a Charlottesville homicide. She had been sought by authorities and they found her after seeing the interview.
Harding said Earnestine Rawlings was captured and charged with failing to appear in court on a previous charge. In a statement sent to reporters, Harding didn't specify the original charge.
Rawlings was interviewed for a story Thursday about the shooting death of David Cowan in the Westhaven housing complex. Rawlings said she didn't feel safe in the area. The sheriff said investigators saw the interview and realized she was wanted by authorities.
Harding recounted her arrest at her home on Webland Park in the media release: "The deputies located her van today around 3:15 in her driveway and encountered her in the yard. She ran into the house but deputies were able to keep her from getting the door closed and took her into custody."
The statement went on to say: "Rule #1: When you're wanted, don't be interviewed by reporters, cause you'll be on the 6:00 pm news.
Because Ernestine broke rule #1, she was taken into custody by the Albemarle Sheriff's Office."
The statement concluded with a "screen grab" of the Rawlings interview and the message: "Thanks, Newsplex."

what a idiot
You have to be tutored to get this stupid! "I know that I am wanted but I am going to shoot my mouth off on TV anyway, since I want the attention, and when I am arrested I will act surprised." Maybe she thought this might get her on Oprah?
"Harding recounted her arrest at her home on Webland Park in the media release:" Wait a minute... Maybe the PoPo should have tried going to her house to arrest her a long time ago... They just got mad cause she flaunted it in their face being a fugitive on TV. How many other fugitives are safe at home...
