Louisa (1-0) saw their first action of the 2009 season Friday night on the road at Eastern View (1-1).
And the Lions got their season off on the right foot. C.J. Lambert took the opening kickoff 90 yards to the house. After a missed PAT, Louisa took a 6-0 lead.
The Lions were far from finished. On its next possession, Louisa quarterback Dillon Hollins called his own number and gets in the endzone on the quarterback keeper. The Lions would tack on a 2-point conversion to take a 14-0 lead.
In the second quarter, now 14-7 Louisa, Glen Cosby took the Hollins handoff and sprints to the goal line, but is taken down just short of the endzone. That would lead to another Lions touchdown, 20-7 Louisa at that point.
However, the Cyclones would not go down without a fight. Before the end of the first half, Eastern View quarterback Simon Pendleton connects with Connor Settle over the middle for a Cyclone touchdown. That cuts the Lions' halftime lead to six points, 20-14 Louisa.
Things would get tight in the second half. After a scoreless third quarter, Eastern View took the 21-20 lead on a 65-yard double pass with less than five minutes left on the clock.
Down 21-20 with 10 second left, Louisa converted on a 20-yard field goal to walk away with a 23-21 win.
