Former University of Virginia lacrosse player George Huguely had numerous run-ins with law enforcement prior to his arrest Monday, according to court documents.

Huguely is charged with the death of 22-year-old UVa. women's lacrosse player Yeardley Love.

The Washington Examiner reported Thursday that Huguely, 22, had to be rescued in the Atlantic Ocean in Palm Beach County, Fla., after an argument with his father on a fishing boat in December 2008. Huguely wanted to return to shore and attempted to swim the quarter-mile back.

The Examiner reports that one year earlier, Huguely was charged with possession of alcohol by a minor in Palm Beach County.

This new information surfaced after a report released Wednesday morning from a police officer in southwest Virginia who says she arrested Huguely in Lexington, Va., back in November 2008.

Officer R.L. Moss says the 22-year-old Huguely was arrested for public intoxication after leaving a fraternity party at Washington & Lee University.

The arresting officer said Huguely was yelling obscenities and threatening to kill her. Moss shocked Huguely with a stun gun after resisting arrest for public intoxication. She said in a statement Tuesday that she felt it necessary to use the stun gun because Huguely became abusive, and his size was "no match" for her.

Officer Moss says she wasn't surprised that Huguely turned physical again.

"Surprised that he was involved in another incident involving physical violence? No. Surprised that he was involved in an incident to this extent? Yes," said Officer Moss.

Records show Huguely pleaded guilty to two charges last year, was placed on six months of probation and given a 60-day sentence, which was suspended.

While reading these, I wonder why people are fighting about a news story. The real matter at hand is how and why this domestic abuse occured. A young lady is dead due to a man beating her to death and you guys are fighting about the economic status of C'ville. Seriously, look back on your childhood and reacall what your mom always taught you..."If you can't say anything nice or constructive to the common good, don't say anything at all".

I'll have you know, Cbunny, that since I lived here before I went to school here this is also my home and I'll also have you know that I do act about as well-mannered as any whining parents could ask for. The point I was trying to make is that when you complain about and generalize students as misfits who serve no purpose and only fill up restaurants and bars, you rub those of us who do act appropriately the wrong way and make yourselves out to be quite pathetic.

Student would do well to remember that he/she is a GUEST in our town & would do well to act a more well-mannered guest. UVa employees are here to assist students, and they would also do well to remember THAT -- you get more flies with honey than with vinegar.
