For this week's segment of Make Dan Sweat, CBS19's Dan Schutte played volleyball with the University of Virginia Women's Volleyball team on the school's new beach volleyball court.

"A couple of weeks ago we had a good practice and Lee surprised us, got us out half an hour early and just came out here and played the whole time," said Beth Wildermuth, a volleyball player. "It was awesome."

The outdoor sand court does not just serve to help the girl's with their skills, it also works to help spread the sport's popularity.

"One of the reasons we built the sand courts was just to create more awareness and promotion of the sport of volleyball here in the community and here at the University," said Lee Maes, the head coach of the team. "It has just taken off quite a bit and we are really excited about that."

"It's hard to get out here because there are always people playing, but we came out a couple of weeks ago and played some wrestlers, but it is not the same as playing against each other," said Wildermuth.

As the weather continues to warm up, the courts will certainly fill up more, which the players hope will create more buzz for the sport in the fall.
