For this week's segment of Make Dan Sweat, CBS19's Dan Schutte accepted a hula hooping challenge. Hula hoopers, such as Dylan Jacobs make the task look easy.
"There's so many beautiful things about hooping, you're in your core, and youre meditating, and going through the flow and the circular movement, it's just an art and I love it," said Jacobs.
The event draws a crowd at Friday's After Five on the downtown mall in Charlottesville. It may look like fun, but it is also a workout.
"You burn about 300 calories an hour when you're slow waist hooping and fast waist hooping," said Bitty Yancey, a hula hooper.
Dan gave hooping a try himself, but found it was harder than he thought.
"Everyone has their own style and that's fine," said Anne Bedarf, a hula hooper. "Each person's individuality is embraced and it's a great workout".
