In this week's segment of Make Dan Sweat, CBS19's Dan Schutte tried his hand at teaching a classroom full of third graders.

"There is only so much they can teach you from a book, and so much you have to learn by doing it. My first day with Ms. Straume I learned so much about planning and being prepared," said Sarah Elizabeth Edwards, a student teacher.

The third graders in Ms. Straume's class were excited to have Dan as a teacher.

"I just think they were really engaged students. It is really loud when they are excited about what they are learning, which they are today," said Anne Straume, the teacher of the class.

For his lesson plan, Dan taught the third graders how to create their own newscast.

"I think kids like real life experiences. Whenever you can take something and make it something that's like the real world for kids, they really get involved. They always seem to want to know more," said Straume.

Great idea....but try doing it with a class that is a little more diverse. That seemed like a perfect little "well to do" classroom.

What a great idea Dan, that you went to a school. I liked how you thought it was loud! When kids are talking, they are learning. School is much different from the sit down, sit still and be quiet days!!!! Hope you enjoyed yourself. Im sure the students had a fun time learning.
