Make Dan Sweat: Yoga for All Ages
As you get older, your body may not move the way you want it to. However, as CBS19's Dan Schutte explains, a specific type of yoga class in Charlottesville is geared towards getting people to look and feel younger.

As you get older, your body may not move the way you want it to. However, as CBS19's Dan Schutte explains a specific type of yoga class in Charlottesville is geared towards getting people to look and feel younger.
"This is yoga for older adults, It's a gentle yoga class, we do some gentle stretching, some modified traditional yoga postures," explained Barbara Germershausen, the Yoga Instructor. "We do not do any inversions, we are not standing on our head, so it's pretty gentle of a class for flexibility mainly."
Those who attend the Simply Yoga class at the Smith Aquactic Center on Cherry Avenue say it's easy to get hooked.
"I think it's great, I'm a cancer survivor, just getting finished with chemo and radiation, so I'm trying to strengthen my bones and muscles and everything," said Joyce Merritt. Joyce and the other women in the class, spend the hour working through the routine, clearing their minds and improving their health.
"Yoga is good for anybody at any age really, but for those of us over 50," said Joyce. "It keeps us flexible, our bones, strong, and your mind alert and relaxed."
The classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1pm.
