Monticello and Orange are two teams that are always near the top of the Jefferson District, and Friday night both teams tried to take the first step toward a JD title.

The Orange County Hornets took the early 7-0 lead and tacked on seven more when Tyler Moneymaker's pass was intercepted by Eddie Ellington, 14-0 Orange.

The Mustangs would answer in the second quarter with a little trickeration. Garrett Mullaney was at QB for Monticello and he aired it out for the starting QB, Moneymaker, who made the catch and spring down the sideline for the touchdown. Monticello only down 7.

The Hornets would answer back with Amir Waller. Waller took the handoff on the end-around, got around the outside, broke two tackles, and straight out-ran everyone on his way to the endzone. Orange up 21-7 at the half.

In the third quarter Cameron Hughes hit Tyler Seal on the sideline, and seal breaks upfield and dives in for the touchdown. Orange extended their lead to 28-7 lead.

The Hornets would tack on one more score to win it by a final of 35-14, snapping Monticello's 16-game Jefferson District win streak. Orange (2-2) hosts Goochland next week, while Monticello (1-3) hosts Fluvanna.
