New Cafeteria Opens at Jefferson School City Center

January 11, 2013

The Jefferson School City Center is showing off its new cafeteria that is stocked with local meat and produce.

The facility completed a multi-million dollar renovation project last month. Nine non-profits are moving into the center to share resources and provide services to the public.

Employees say the food is worth coming for.

"We try to use as much local produce as we can," said Sean Connelly, the head chef at Jefferson School. "Especially in the summer when we'll get all the tomatoes and cucumbers and all the produce. We'll be using a lot of that."

Along with the restaurant, the new services at the historic building include a health care provider, counseling services, tutoring classes, a new recreation center, and child care.

Piedmont Virginia Community College will start hosting classes there starting later this month.
