UVa Fraternity Helps Out Cville Fire Station

November 3, 2012

The brothers of UVa fraternity Phi Gamma Delta, or "Fiji," are helping out the Charlottesville Fire Department.

Thirty members re-painted the garage walls of firehouse Saturday morning.

A member of the fraternity is a volunteer firefighter, so they planned their second day of service at the firehouse.

Even though it was an early Saturday morning for them, they say they plan to continue volunteering there.

"They're really respectable guys and we get to learn from them. I mean they're here helping us, helping the community and they're just great guys. And when all is said and done, we go upstairs and have a big lunch with them. It's been a lot of fun," said Andrew Leach, the incoming president of Fiji.

They've already washed down all of the engines, now they've given them a fresh paint and Leach says they're looking forward to the next job they can help with.
