Firefighters Raise More Than $11K in 'Fill the Boot' Fundraiser

Local firefighters asked people to "fill their boots" over the past few weeks, and many responded.
The Albemarle County Professional Firefighters Association released the results of its annual Fill the Boot campaign. Firefighters camped out at a number of local businesses asking people to drop donations in a firefighter's boot.
This year, they surpassed their goal of raising $10,000. The final tally is $11,371.
All the money benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Over the past five years that firefighters have been organizing this fundraiser, they've raised more than $50,000.
