Hope Chest Provides Hundreds of Christmas Gifts
December 22, 2012
Saint Anne's-Belfield School helped dish out lots of hope this holiday season.
Families were waiting in line starting at 7 a.m. Saturday at Venable Elementary School for the fifth-annual Hope Chest event.
From 9 a.m. to noon families shopped from more than 150 coats. thousands of articles of clothing, 100 pairs of shoes and stuffed animals that wrapped around the whole school gym. These were all donated for those in need this holiday season.
A big sponsor of the Hope Chest event is the Momma's Kitchen club at Saint Anne's-Belfield School. It's a group of mainly middle school students who fundraise all year and plan the Hope Chest.
"When you have a little kid who doesn't normally get to have many things from Santa or Christmas presents, and you find them a toy that they really like or a dress or a piece of clothing that they really like, they just light up and they're so excited about it. It takes a load off of the parents' shoulders and it's just a good feeling," said Holland Edmond an executive board member of Momma's Kitchen club at STAB.
