Lt. Governor Bolling No Longer Running for Governor's Seat
November 29, 2012
Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling talked Thursday about his future after pulling out of Virginia's Governor's race.
Bolling says he originally hoped to run for the Republican ticket alongside Attorney General Ken Cucinnelli.
But he says changes to the nomination process, in addition to Cucinnelli's announcement to campaign against Bolling, changed his mind.
"Not everything that we want in life is meant to be you know things don't always work out the way that we want them to and this didn't either."
Bolling said the decision not to run for governor is the most challenging one he has ever made in his personal or professional life.
He now plans to remain involved in the 2012 campaign and ensure that candidates focus on the important issues facing the Commonwealth. However, Bolling would not endorse Cucinelli for Governor.
Bill Bolling was elected twice to the position of Lieutenant Governor, defeating his Democratic opponents in both 2005 and 2009 general elections.
