The Newsplex is partnering with Albemarle County Police to eliminate texting and driving in our community, and we want you to join the effort.
Police say, people have an unrealistic view of the dangers of texting and driving. They say it ranks right up there with drunk driving, and it's causing increased accidents, especially for young people.
“Your reaction time is very important while you're driving,” says Jonathan Hickory of the Albemarle County Police. “Things are changing all around you at all times, whether you're on a rural roadway and a small child or an animal runs out in front of you or if you're in the middle of 29 North, four lanes of traffic and the car in front of you slams on their brakes.”
