BLACKSBURG, Virginia (AP)— Virginia Tech is holding a statewide test of its VT Alerts system this month.
The test is set for March 20 between 8 a.m. noon at Virginia Tech's facilities in Blacksburg, Hampton Roads, northern Virginia, Roanoke, Abingdon and Danville.
Virginia Tech says in a news release that the system's communication channels will be tested, including email, Twitter, phone alerts, and the outdoor sirens in Blacksburg.
