Shooting Investigation Closes Parts of West Street

Police are conducting an active investigation of a shooting that happened Tuesday afternoon in the West Street area of Charlottesville.

Police say that a call came in around 4:20 PM for a verbal argument, but that multiple gun shots were fired as officers were in route to the scene.

Bullets struck homes in the neighborhood, but no injuries have been reported.

Police have collected around a dozen shell casings, along with other forensic evidence.
