New Real Estate Tax Relief for Elderly and Disabled

Albemarle County is offering real estate tax relief to elderly and disabled property owners.

Applicants must be at least 65 years-old or be totally and permanently disabled as of December 31, 2012.

Other criteria includes that you are the title holder of the property, your total taxable income is less than $69,452, and your total net worth is less than $200,000.

The renewal application filing deadline is April 1, 2013. First time applicants have until October 31, 2013 to file.

Applications are available at the Senior Center, County Office Building on McIntire, and library branches.
