ROANOKE, Va. (AP) - Appalachian Power is continuing work to restore power to thousands of customers in Virginia who lost service after last week's winter storm.

The company's website shows more than 18,800 customers without electricity as of Sunday afternoon, including more than 3,000 outages in both Grayson and Pulaski counties.

Appalachian Power says electricity may not be restored to some customers until Tuesday night.

The first significant winter storm of the season arrived late Thursday and continued into early Friday. The greatest snow depths were in the southern and western parts of the state.

Appalachian Power says outages in its service area peaked at about 128,000 customers. It serves about half a million customers in Virginia.
