Va. House Committee Hands Dragas Another Win

Helen Dragas is one vote closer to keeping her job.

A Virginia House committee voted 18 to 2 on Friday to re-appoint her as rector of the UVa Board of Visitors.

Local Delegate Steve Landes abstained from the vote. Earlier this year Landes had vowed to vote against Dragas' reappointment.

Today he tired to single out her name on the list, but the committee would not allow it. Landes decided to abstain because he didn't want to vote against all the other appointees on the list.

Dragas got the approval of the State Senate on Thursday, and now she faces a vote from the entire House of Delegates.
