The sixth annual Grace Tinsley Scholarship bash is set for Saturday.
Tinsley was the first African American woman on the City School Board, the first nurse at Charlottesville High School, and a member of the PVCC Board of Directors.
The event raises money for scholarships for Charlottesville High School students.
“It's awarded to Charlottesville High School seniors from moderate to low income families who basically embody the different characteristics that we love and admire in Grace,” says Event Organizer Llezelle Dugger. “Which is perseverance, stick to it-ness, determination, ambition, and yet all tempered with compassion.”
The event is at 7:00PM Saturday night at the Elks Club, next to Darden Towe Park on Route 20. Tickets are $35 at the door. Organizers say the event is on, even in the snow.
