Shopping After Black Friday Could Save You More Money

November 21, 2012

Shoppers may save more money if they wait to make purchases after Black Friday.

Millions of Americans will line up before dawn at retail stores, hoping to get Black Friday deals. According to Dealnews.com, door buster items may not be the best deal.

Big screen TV's are hot items to buy on Black Friday, but according to Dealnews.com they won't be the big brand name TV's. Shoppers should wait until January or February to buy TV's. Manufactures look to clear stock to make room for new models.

The site also mentions that you may want to wait to buy winter clothing. Dana Holler is an image consultant at The Image Coach in Charlottesville. She says waiting could save you money. "You can get those near the end of the winter and wait until next year and there's still going to be great sales," said Holler. She also recommends subscribing to your favorite store's email coupons. It could result in additional savings combined with end of the season sales.

Cameras are a big grab for many shoppers. But Dealnews says buyers should wait until 2013. Purchasers should wait until February or later. This is when the camera becomes an old model. It results in more aggressive discounts from retailers.

If shoppers plan on standing in line on Black Friday, some people say they should be respectful to others. "Just be courteous of everyone around you. That's so important because you are so fueled by the drive of trying to get items," said Holler.

Many people agree Black Friday is a day to have fun, while catching a deal.
