STRASBURG, Va. (AP) - A man who walked into northern Virginia's Sandy Hook Elementary School with a 2-by-4 with the words "High Powered Rifle" days after a gunman killed 26 at a Connecticut school with the same name is scheduled to appear in court.

Thirty-three-year-old Christopher Johnson of Strasburg was arrested Dec. 19. Authorities said he told police he was attempting to deliver a message about school safety.

Johnson is set to appear in a Shenandoah County General District Court Friday. Johnson was charged with one count of disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.

Commonwealth's Attorney Amanda Wiseley tells the Daily News-Record (http://bit.ly/10qYM2o ) she has ordered a mental health evaluation of Johnson.

It's not clear what prompted Wiseley to ask for the evaluation or whether that has been completed ahead of Friday's hearing.
