Learning Ally, a national non-profit that helps people with visual and learning disabilities, is closing its Charlottesville location.

Friday will be the last day volunteers fill the studio on Remson Court to record audiobooks used by hundreds of thousands of people who are dyslexic, blind or have other disabilities.

The company has several locations across the United States. The Charlottesville studio is one of eight studios that will be closing.

A representative from the company says they are looking into ways volunteers can become "virtual volunteers" by recording online or from remote studios.

He says Learning Ally's Charlottesville location is closing because of financial pressures, among other reasons, but not because of a lack of local volunteers.
