Charlottesville police believe a man was demonstrating his Second Amendment rights, when he walked into a grocery with a loaded semi-automatic rifle.
On Sunday a 22-year-old male walked into a Kroger at the intersection of Emmet Street and Hydraulic Road. Reportedly the man first walked into the store and quickly left. He then returned with an AR-15, prompting several calls to police.
“It does elevate the concern of moms and dads, parents that are in there with their children while they are shopping,” said Charlottesville Police Lt. Ronnie Roberts. “It also concerns us that the individual would take that type of approach.”
The man was detained for questioning, as well as to ensure that he was in lawful possession of the weapon. Since there was no crime committed, he was released.
