Charlottesville School System is Closer to Final Budget
February 18, 2013
Charlottesville school leaders are tying up loose ends when it comes to the school budget. A meeting, open for public comment, was held Monday night at Jackson Via Elementary School.
No one showed up for the public comment portions of the meeting. Instead, the board took the time to go over the school budget with more scrutiny.
Some board members were concerned with funding for the Fine Arts summer enrichment, program and wanted to know if would remain free or would students have to pay.
"The question was would fee would that be? Would it be a nominal fee? Would it be free or would it pay for itself?" said school board chair, Juandiego Wade. "Those are some questions we've asked staff to come back and give us a little bit more fine tune information on."
The board is set to make a final decision on the budget on February 28 and the meeting will be open to the public.
