Black Knights' Davis Chooses James Madison

Posted: 12:22 PM Jan 24, 2013
Reporter: Nate Sulham

Charlottesville senior quarterback Rashard Davis had a tremendous senior season, and now that season has found Davis a spot at the next level.

Black Knights' head coach Eric Sherry confirmed in an email Thursday that Davis has accepted a scholarship to play for Mickey Matthews at James Madison University in nearby Harrisonburg.

Davis is expected to make the move to wide receiver, where he played prior to last season.

He chose the Dukes over other offers from Liberty, Coastal Carolina and VMI.

Davis was a first-team All-Jefferson District selection as a utility player in 2012. He threw for 1,074 yards and 13 touchdowns, and ran for 1,383 yards and 17 scores, and helped the Black Knights reach the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
