The Virginia women’s basketball team earned a 69-64 victory over Wake Forest Sunday, holding off a late rally by the Demon Deacons.
UVa led 56-38 with 5:22 left in the game when Wake Forest rallied and eventually cut the lead to five.
Ataira Franklin hit a pair of free throws in the final 30 seconds to help seal the win. Franklin led the Cavaliers with a season-high 23 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field.
Kelsey Wolfe scored 13 points and shot a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point range. China Crosby added 11 points, 5 assists, and 2 steals.
With the win, the Cavaliers improve to 14-6 overall and 6-3 in the ACC. They have a week off before hosting Georgia Tech February 3.
