Posted: 2:51 PM Feb 16, 2013

The Virginia defense came apart Saturday in a 93-81 loss at North Carolina.

P.J. Hairston scored a career-high 29 points in his second straight start and Marcus Paige added 17 for the Tar Heels, who shot 49.2 percent and hit 13 3-pointers.

Carolina was able to tear through a Virginia defense that ranked second nationally by allowing just 52 points per game.

Joe Harris continued his hot shooting with 27 to lead the Wahoos.

Virginia (18-7, 8-4) hadn't allowed more than 69 points, a total UNC passed with more than 9 minutes left.
