The Virginia women's basketball team dominated Norfolk State 66-23 Friday, advancing to Saturday's championship game of the Cavalier Classic.
The Cavaliers led 32-6 at the half, and held the Spartans to just 23 points in the game. That's the second lowest point total by an opponent in the history of the Virginia program and the fewest since UVa defeated Mary Washington, 41-19, on Dec. 2, 1975.
The Cavaliers were led in scoring by Simone Egwu who had 16, and finished a perfect 4-4 from the field and 8-8 from the free throw line. Ataira Franklin and Sarah Imovbioh each had 12 points for Virginia, and Telia McCall added 9 points and 14 rebounds.
The Cavaliers will take on Xavier Saturday at 7 p.m. at John Paul Jones arena, playing for the tournament title.
