Virginia Tech came into Thursday's game with Virginia averaging 75 points per contest but it was the Cavaliers who lit up the Cassel Coliseum scoreboard in a 74-58 win.
The Wahoos were down 17-10 early but used a 24-8 run to close out the first half.
Freshman Evan Nolte led the 'Hoos with 18 points and junior Joe Harris added 17.
Another freshman, Justin Anderson, scored 11 off the bench.
Virginia (13-6, 5-3) will host Boston College Saturday at 1 p.m.
