Miller's Martin Picks Brown Basketball

Aram Martin and Brown's Mike Martin may not be related. But the Miller School senior says he felt a connection with the first-year head coach of the Bears.

"He's a great guy," Aram Martin said Wednesday. "He's been recruiting me since July, and he's seen basically my worst games and my best games. Where I've had 20 points, double-double games, and then games where I didn't do too well scoring. And it's really cool. He had faith in me, and he knew that I was the missing piece. So everything worked out."

Martin, a 6-9 small forward, committed to the Bears earlier this week. Martin said Brown's academics and the opportunity to play right away were two primary factors in his decision.

Martin was also interested in Harvard, Rice, Tulane, and Nebraska.

"At first, I was thinking of the names of the schools, and I thought, "Oh man, I could see myself here, and here, and here,"" he said. "But I took my visit to Brown. I absolutely fell in love with everything. Providence is a great city, and the school is amazing. I love the coaching staff; the players are just perfect."
