Joe Harris saved his best game as a Cavalier for the biggest stage.
Harris scored a career-high 36 to lead Virginia to a 73-68 win over No. 3 Duke at a raucous John Paul Jones Arena Thursday night.
The win gave the Cavs their first victory over Duke since 2007 and was the program's first win over a top-5 opponent since the Wahoos beat Duke in 2002.
Akil Mitchell helped Harris on the offensive end with 19 points and did a solid job keeping the Blue Devils off the glass with 12 rebounds.
The Cavs held Duke scoreless for the first four minutes of the game as Duke was 0-6 from the field to start. Harris score 15 in the first half as Virginia took a five-point lead to the locker room.
Virginia (20-8, 10-5 ACC) will visit Boston College on Saturday.
