Unemployment Claims Put Strain on Albemarle County

President Barack Obama signed legislation into law that restores unemployment benefits to people who have been out of work for six months or more, which is good news for Albemarle County. The unemployment rate there was at 4.8 percent as of January, much higher than years past.

City Seeks State Aid for Storm Cleanup

A storm that devastated parts of Charlottesville two weeks ago is still costing the city, and crews don't expect to be finished with cleanup until August. Now, city officials are asking the governor's office for emergency aid to help offset the $200,000 cleanup cost.
