The managers of Melt, a bath and skin care store located in the Fashion Square Mall, have decided to close the store after going two months without pay from the Colorado-based parent company.
After holding a grand opening this summer, Patricia Madigan says some employees have worked the entire six weeks and never seen a dime. Others were issued checks that reportedly bounced, according to Madigan.
"None of us have gotten paid. It may be something that we take to court," said Madigan.
Madigan says she left a good-paying job to become the assistant manager at Melt, just three weeks after the previous manager quit. Madigan resigned Monday, the same day management decided to close the store for good.
An ABC affiliate TV station in Denver reports the company's CEO has confirmed he's shutting down operations at most of his stores. The ABC station also reports the Colorado Department of Labor is investigating Melt.
The Virginia Department of Labor has not indicated whether they are investigation claims against Melt. Phone calls and emails to Melt and the Department of Labor have gone unanswered so far.
